Precisely what each plan gates, and where each limit is actually enforced.

Where each limit lives#

PromiseEnforced by
Price, trial length, plan namesThe Shopify subscription
Indexing modeYour shop's tier, reconciled whenever the subscription changes. A pending trial is treated as the scheduled tier — paid capability starts when the charge is accepted.
Vendor and CSV source countsChecked when a source is added, keyed to your plan
Fitment Data add-on (wheels & tires)An entitlement flag on your shop, off by default
Analytics retentionThe rollup job's pruning window
Catalog sizeNot enforced. Sizing guidance for support, not a meter.
Dev hours, support tiers, free setupService promises, not code

Not limited on any plan#

  • Widgets — all nine, everywhere
  • Traffic, sessions, searches, API calls
  • Vehicles, mapped collections, filters, synonyms
  • The fitment editor, ranking tuner, normalization rules
  • Setup and the theme install

When you exceed a limit#

Adding a source beyond your plan's count is refused with a message naming the limit and the plan that raises it. Nothing is silently disconnected, and nothing already connected stops working because you grew.

At a downgrade renewal, if you're over the new plan's limits, the admin asks which sources to keep. It will not choose for you.

Guidance is not a meter

The catalog rows are sizing advice so support knows what to expect. A Starter shop with 300,000 products gets a conversation about the right plan, not a throttle in the middle of a season.
